WRL Copywriter/PR Director Joe Clifford Faust recently took his box of dog biscuits on a visit to the campus of Walsh University in North Canton. Faust spoke to two Introduction to Public Relations and Advertising classes, introducing a unit on Advertising in which students plan a budgeted campaign for a randomly chosen product.

"I take the dog biscuits for a number of reasons," Faust said. "They're kind of a goofy product if you think about it, the kind of thing that people don't think of as needing advertising. They also add some humor to the session, and I use them as an example of how to use core ad copy fundamentals to develop a great sales pitch."

Faust also said that addressing the classes, which are taught by Professor Lee Horrisberger, has become a tradition. He estimates that he has been making the trip to Walsh since 2002, resulting in something of a symbiotic relationship. "I keep altering my speech each year to meet the needs of Lee's classes, and she keeps altering the way she approaches the class based on what I say."

Anyone interested in having a WRL staff member speak to a class or organization about any advertising-related subject should contact Faust.
