CANTON… Jayson Shenk, a graphic designer for WRL Advertising, received a 3D modeling and animation Stark State Spartan Award on May 11 for three vividly realistic images of a room he modeled, textured and then lit in a day cycle.
“I’m definitely proud of the results,” said Shenk. “I got a little ambitious with this project and it’s great to know all the hard work I put in paid off.”
The scenes Shenk rendered depict what can only be described as a “hip pad” as seen during different stages of the day/night cycle. The night scene is very dark, with only the television’s glow giving the room form. The noon image, in contrast, is full of soft, ambient light that reaches every corner of the room. Looking at them it’s a little hard to tell whether they’re digital renderings or photographs of a real place.
