CANTON … WRL Advertising, a full-service advertising agency, welcomed a field trip of Mount Union students into its Canton headquarters on Monday, April 16.  The students, as part of their Advanced Public Relations class, were given a tour of the WRL facility and attended Q&A sessions with various members of the WRL team.

“Everyone here has incredible enthusiasm for what they do for a living,” said Holly Mueller, public relations director at WRL. “And it’s great having the chance to share that enthusiasm with a younger generation.  I think the people who work here took as much away from the encounter as the students who visited.”

The goal of the tour was to give students an idea of how public relations professionals interact with other specialists in an advertising firm.  They were exposed to the type of environment they might work in once they graduate and learned the day-to-day duties of public relation professionals within the agency.

“There’s only so much you can learn from inside a classroom,” said professor Harry Paidas of Mount Union. “We want our students to finish this class with not only the theoretical knowledge of PR, but with a concrete understanding of how those skills are used in a workplace environment.”
