BROWSER COMPATIBILITY

We understand that the sun does not rise and set on Microsoft Internet Explorer. There is a whole world of browsers out there, each a little bit different in their feature sets and behaviors. This is why WRL does multi–browser testing of our HTML code for all of our designs. This includes:

  • Firefox logo Mozilla’s Firefox 2 and 3 – Gecko layout engine
  • Internet Explorer logo Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8 – IE layout engine
  • Safari logo Apple Safari and Google Chrome – WebKit layout engine

JavaScript and Flash

JavaScript (JS) and Flash bring style, functionality and personality to a web site. However, not everyone is on the bandwagon for these two technologies. For various reasons (security, NoScript Plugin, visually impaired software) visitors may choose to disable Flash and JavaScript when browsing.

This is why, any time we implement a feature for a public website using JavaScript, we test to make certain that the site works properly when it is turned off. Does your site function with JavaScript turned off?

Similarly, while Flash has penetrated 95% of the market, there are those who browse without it. When this happens, some sites lose the ability to navigate through them or other important functions. To avoid disenfranchising any of your users, WRL designs use Flash technology only where it is appropriate. When we do implement Flash, we make certain that visitors without Flash still have a good experience on your site, rather than seeing something filled with holes.
